Can I come to Japan and choose my own car?

Yes you can .  We would be happy to meet you at the airport or train station and make arrangements hotel etc on your behalf. We can book travel to Japan and arrange accommodation cheaper than you can from NZ.

We suggest you could get a few friends together and charge a fee to help cover airfares etc.

How much does comming over to Japan Cost?

Flights vary but we suggest you check the jetstar site.
Hotel average 7,000 YEN ($100 per night).
Train travel bullet train.

My Deposit.

Your Deposit will be held in NZ until the purchase is made. If you change your mind, then the deposit is refunded (less any bid fees).

What happens if I change my mind AFTER MY BID is successful??

1. The car can be cancelled at the auction in Japan. This must be done within 1 hour of the purchase time. The cancellation fee is 70,000 yen.
2.If you fail to cancel your bid you must still purchase the vehicle.
3. JANNZ can try to sell it from stock to another customer. The PURCHASER must pay any loss in price from the re sell.
4. JANNZ can sell it at another auction in Japan , the customer must pay any loss in price from the re sell.
5. When JAANZ assumes the responsibility for purchasing the vehicle the customers deposit is forfeited.

What Does bidding Cost?

1. If we attend the auction there is no charge for bidding.
2. Where bidding is done online you get the first 3 bids free to enable you to get a feel for the cost of the vehicle you are bidding on.
3. After your first 3 free bids, the bidding fee is 500 yen per bid (this is the price the auction charges us). This discourages people from trying to “steal” cars (putting in lots of very low bids) and  avoids excessive bidding.
4. If you change your mind then any outstanding bidding fees are deducted from your deposit.

What do I do when my bid is successful?.

1. You will recieve an email informing you of the result, details, price etc.
2. Email Outlining bank details.

What does “FOB” mean?

FOB means “free on board” or all Japanese costs paid.
This includes the car cost plus JAANZ fees and any other Japan costs Km check etc.

1. CAR COST - Auction statement (which includes bid price, auction fee and taxes)
2. JAANZ fee of 80,000 yen
3. Extra costs such as as trucking and or odometer km check etc.

What is the JAANZ fee comprised of?

1. JAANZ fee is 80,000 yen. This is in addition to the cost from auction statement (which includes bid price, auction fee)
2. JAANZ fee  includes transportation from auction to the port in Nagoya, deregistration, customs fee, customs agent fees, documentation, couriers etc. and of course our profit.

How and when do I pay for the vehicle when my bid is successful?

What exchange rate is used?

1. Exchange rates vary from day to day.
2. The following link will give you some idea of the fluctuations http://www.nationalbank.co.nz/economics/exchange/nzdjpy.htm
3. NOTE As the rate given is the “median” rate you need to deduct 1 point from that indicated.

How do I register my car when it gets to NZ?

1. JAANZ staff will process the vehicle to the “drive away” stage . We charge a NOMINAL fee of $200 for this service. We co-ordinate paperwork with customs agents and the customer (you), arrange compliance, WOF work, re-inspection etc.
2. If you want to process the car yourself JAANZ  will provide you with the  relevant documentation .

What are the “on road costs”?

These include compliance, any work needed to bring the vehicle to compliance standard, reinspection, delivery or relocation etc.

1. Compliance is first. The cost is aprox $400
2. Bring vehicle up to WOF (compliance) standard - set fee $400 - this is an average allowance (our guarantee) every one pays the same.
3. If the vehicle is found to have any faults, it will need to be re-submitted after the faults have been rectified..
5. At this point the vehicle is ready for registration.  You must pay for 6 months first time registration aprox $270.

What extra costs are there?

1. Inland transportation within Nagoya is included in the JAANZ fee. Where vehicles are purchased outside Nagoya there is an additional cost.
2. Odometer check where requested.

Why is it so important to have a maximum “happy price”??

1. Vehicles are on offer in the auctions often for less then 10 seconds only!

2. Sometimes it is neccessary to bid on 2 vehicles almost simultaneously.
3. It is essential to have an exact maximum bid. There is no time to estimate or calculate exchange rates etc. You need to give a very clear max price.
4. Mistakes requiring cancellation are expensive (costing a minimum of 70,000 yen $1,000!!!).
5. If your bid is too low your chances of buying are greatly reduced.
